ANDREW DRUMMOND
OBSERVATION – ACTION – REFLECTION
The Christchurch Art Gallery-Christchurch New Zealand is running an exhibition of the kenetic sculptures of Andrew Drummond from May 14 to September 5.
This is an absolute must for a visit, if you are anywhere near Christchurch; for this is an exhibition of the highest quality. These works are the equal of the very best throughout the art world-Drummond needs the highest praise and support.
The art pieces where produced largely between 1980 and 2010 and includes performance sculpture, installation, drawing, photography and technology.
The kinetic works are exquisitely crafted in bronze and other materials, that echo the structure of large industrial machines. The motion sounds are surprisingly soft and delicate-recalling a steam train approaching. Other pneumatic sounds bring to mind a printing machine suction lifting paper.
